Hi, I'm Scott, and I just wanted to introduce myself to the October support group. I recently started the program with a coach from the Midwest Center. In fact, I'm starting session 4 today. I chose to start this program because I have problems with anxiety, depression, and obsessive thinking. These behaviors are holding me back from doing things that I want/need to do with my life. So I'm making a conscious effort to change the way I think and how I react to life's situations. I'm already starting to make small positive changes, and that makes me feel hopeful. I wish everyone here the best of luck with this program, and I look forward to getting to know everyone better. Take care ,
Hello Everyone! Today will be my first Session in the program so I am introducing myself before I begin. I heard through infomercials years ago, about the Midwest Center & Lucinda Bassett, and even though I've gone through some very rough times since, I never bought the progam because I always had in the back of my mind "I'll keep this open as a last resort, just in case things get really bad!". I was afraid that if I bought the program & if it didn't work "what would I have left to fall back on?". Of course, this seems silly now but it didn't then. My sister has used the program & I have seen a major change in her. Although we are very close, we live far apart and she kept insisting that I not wait any longer. I believe she's right and I am entitled to a serene, happy & fulfilling life. So even though I am not in a major funk right now, I see how I am not being kind to myself. I have let health issues go and feel as though I am commiting a "slow" type of suicide. This is unacceptable & I must do something about it, starting today, one small step at a time! Wishing all of you, who are beginners like me, a wonderful, new journey! Hello Scott!

Hello newbies! My name is Peter. I just started the course last night and it's really got me thinking about what needs to change in my life. I'm just amazed at how many people are in the same situation as myself. I actually had to grin when watching the introductory part of the course because I thought I was the only who had these thoughts, fears and anxieties. I found myslef thinking, I'm not alone and I'm not going crazy after all! I got a tell ya, I really feel great right now. I wish all of you well on your new journey. Here's to life!
Welcome............Scott, Hopeful and Peter. It is wonderful to hear your stories. I started the program in Sept.'08, then I quit and started back up. Because it does make a difference in the way I treat myself. I come on this website every day. I don't always reply; however just reading the posts makes a difference. It is so nice to have this group of friends that we can all relate too and let me tell you there are some really smart/intellegent people on here. If you ever need to talk/chat.....you can send a Personal Message or just post on the forums. Have a great day and keep up the good work!
Hi guys, I've signed up and am hoping and believing this is going to work. However, i am a little skeptical since I did the linden method and it didn't work for me. Anyone try that? I'm hoping someone worked with linden method and it didn't work but that this one did. I've heard that peer support is bad because it makes us focus on anxiety and reinforces to the brain that we have it? So, I am reluctantly participating in this because I don't want to make this any harder than it already is.
Panic is bad, turned into social anxiety, fear of passing out. Need to move forward with my life.
Hi Debbie, Peter, Heather & all Newbies, Heather, could you please tell me what kind of program is the Lindon method? I'm not familiar with it and was wondering if it is a cognitive behavioral therapy (this is) which has had very good results shown in many studies?

I think so, it's basically focused on diversion. To keep yourself, thoughts, etc. focused away from anxiety so that your behavior follows. It preaches the same pattern of you cause your panic attacks, don't fear panic attacks, etc. That's why i'm worried this may not work for me. Charles Linden's method has a good relaxation cd but it just hasn't helped and i've been trying for a year.
Hello, my name is Daneen, I live in New Jersey and have been suffering with worry, fear and stress for about 6 years and now it is to the point that I am not doing the things that I once did. So, I was watching TV one night with my husband when the infomercial come on, which I have seen before and my husband looked at me at said "I think you need to make this call", so I did. So far this program really makes you think about the choices you make in your thinking and now I know that I am causing my own issues, now changing is the challenge. Please respond!

Also, someone earlier said that they started the program with a coach? Are there coaches available? I would give my savings to have this problem go away. I need any help I can get.
Hey... I'm Russ, just joined the program at the beginning of october and am feeling better but am still struggling. I've had severe anxiety, OCD, and depression for as long as I can remember. Currently working on session 3. The habitual pattern of negative thinking is really difficult to reign in, particularly when you've been doing it for so long. I've been reading the posts the past couple days before I decided to jump in (the water's fine!) and have got a lot of encouragement and hope from everyone. The concept of being alone in this is an abstraction, until you see so many other people describing the exact same life experience. Look forward to many future postings and good luck to everyone committed to changing their lives for the better.

Heather, I've only listened to session I so far and it doesn't seem as though this program uses a direct technique of diversion. I'm basing that on what I see in the workbook. For example, it has you face the types of fears, responses, and your personality traits to begin with. That doesn't seem like a diversionary technique to me. Someone whose further along, correct me if I'm wrong? As far as the coaching goes, I've not signed up for that but it does state in the Intro Guidebook that there is phone support (I'm guessing coaching) which use to be free but now they charge you for it. It's on page III and the number is 1-800-515-1133. Anyone else using this? I'd also love to know more about it?

Heather, If you look at the top left corner of this page you will see a box that says One-on_One assistance (Personal Coaching). There is no obligation to find out more about it. Hope that helps.

Hi ALL! This is great to see! I started the program in October and I am finishing session 2. I am so hopeful. I don't know the linden method, sorry. All I know is that I have great hope and will put 100% into ending anxiety, panic, obsessive thinking about breathing, passing out, dying, etc. Welcome all and lets all pray this works for us all!
