Music with uplifting lyrics, they are awesome!
I love that last thread of "Songs that pick you up when feeling down" by celeron, it's so cool! This one is a little different, I have a few quick ones to list here but I’ll try not to start out with too many, so come on let's go! List all your favorites and paste the words if you wish (if you like some of my favorites, list em again! SmilerSmilerSmiler

1. Stuck in a moment-U2
2. It's a beautiful day-U2
3. Break away-Kelly Clarkson
4. End of the line (well it's alright)
Traveling Wilburys
5. The Dance-Garth Brooks
6. The River-Garth Brooks
7. Only here for a little while-Billy Dean

I was just thinking yesterday why I like the Oldies. It's a reminder of happier times. So when I'm down, I can listen to the oldies because someone made me copies on CD's. So "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to." Not that that's a great song for cheering you up but like I say for some reason that type of music does. "Judy in Disguise" ,"Proud Mary" I could go on and on. OK, so I'm old fashioned.

On another crazy note, tho I seldom listen to it for some reason polka music makes me happy. I do have some somewhere. Maybe I need to drag some out " Roll Out the Barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun" Anyone know that?? Big Grin

These are good! For any of the new Mommies (or any Mommies at all, really), I LOVE "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" by the Dixie Chicks. I'm not a country music fan, but it is a beautiful lullabye that the lead singer Natalie wrote for her new baby son, and I love singing it to my own new baby son every night so much that he smiles when I start as he knows the song now. (You can tweak it to sing it to a baby girl, too!)

I'm obviously in baby mode tonight, but it is such a loving and sweet song it makes me really happy to hear and sing (albeit badly Wink)

Hi Chief!
I L O V E U2- I've seen them 4x live- all excellent shows! 2 years ago my little sister (21 then), myself (very early 30's- HA!), a collegue (late 40's), and my mentor and best friend (60ish??? who knows since I think she knows Ponce de Leon persnally!) all saw their latest concert... Concensus- Bono rocks!

"Beautiful Day" is my ringtone, and it makes me grin every time someone (well, most...) call. ;*)

I also love "Yahweh" (U2)- sometimes it just makes me weep with joy.

*Hey, listen carefully to "B.D."- did you catch the biblical allusions to Noah's Ark? Same with many others ("Where the Streets Have No Names"). Cool, huh?

"Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" by Paul Simon is another fav.

Peace Out,
fischee

Morning has broken Cat Stevens
like his music not his views

Don great picks!

fischee, thanks I love U2 (you too lol). How about the song 40.
What's B D again (brain lapse), and yes U2 started out more biblical with their music and kinda kept it going though maybe not as much.

Barb that's cool you're only as old as you feel inside.

Buttrfly, sounds like you have a good reason to be happy, wish I had a family, but where ever God needs me.

I love these threads because it reminds me of uplifting/inspirational music I'd forgotton and sends me directly to iTunes- thanks, everyone!

I don't know about anyone else, but music directly influences my mood (for the + or -).

Another song I really like is "Waiting for my Real Life to Begin" by Colin Hay (former lead singer of Men at Work- don't hold it against him). Sounds kind of negative but the lyrics are probably what most of us can relate to.

B.D.= "Beautiful Day" ;*)

Jimmy Eat World- The Middle

Hey, don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head you feel left out
Or looked down on
Just try your best, try everything you can
And don't you worry what they tell themselves
When you're away.

Chorus:
It just takes some time, little girl your in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine Everything, everything it'll be alright

Hey, you know they're all the same
You know you're doing better on your own,
So don't buy in.
Live right now
Yeah, just be yourself.
It doesn't matter if it's good enough
For someone else

This songg is amazing and does wonders for your self esteem Smiler When im feeling down I crank the stereo, and sing as loud as possible Smiler You guys should try the same!

Ok, I have one more that I feel everyone could benefit from listening to Smiler Even if you have heard the song before, focus on listening to what he is saying, this song gives me goosebumps and is so uplifting. I hope you all get the same feelings I do when playing this song.

Somedays You Gotta Dance - Dixie Chicks - it's just got a GREAT sound and is so upbeat!

My Next 30 Years - Tim McGraw

Almost anything by Janet Jackson in the 80's - cuz I loved dancing to her 80's stuff.

I'm sure I'll add more in a bit.

Loved reading all the others. Hope everyone is having a happy day!

Music can make so much difference for me!

Well, some of you weren't born when my favorite uplifting music was big, but here goes:
Hotel California - the whole album, the Eagles
Tupelo Honey, Van Morrison
Forgiveness, Don Henley
Peace Train, Cat Stevens
And anything by Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, just because.
P.S. Best song ever, it was one of my mother's favorites: What a Wonderful World, Louie Armstrong, circa?
