Does any one with anxiety over get an episode of anxiety/panic along with hypoglycemia, a sudden drop of glucose in the blood? Even though I've never been diagnosed by an MD as having hypoglycemia but throughout most of my life (including the good-ole pre-OCD days) I have had moments, thankfully not to frequently--maybe once every 2-4 months, where I felt shaky inside but not a panic attack. Along with this shakiness comes an intense need for sugar--candy, soda, etc. After I have sugar, I feel better about 45 minutes later.

Today I went for my monthly visit with my shrink and I felt a little anxious (the anxiety type of anxiousness) when I left. Everything regarding the OCD is ok. Then the "hypog" feeling started. After a root bear and fries at McDonald's I felt ok.

P.S. My father was a Type II diabetic.

Thanks.

root beer and fries is all carbs and sugars.

Im no dietician, but i had found remarkable progress by reducing carbs and sugars to a minimum and folloiwng a low carb diet. Me, a person who used not go anywhere unless I had a couple of McDonalds burgers in my backpack. Wasn't until I realized that I was feeding my anxiety with sugars and carbs, and when the anxity hit, I'd run again for more carbs and sugars.

anyhoo, I'd seriously consider reducing your carbs and sugars to a minimum. They are not really good for you and only raise your insulin level thus causing a crash (which could be perceived as anxiety).

*I am not a doctor (just had to clarify that).

I used to get hypoglycemic episodes a lot, especially when I was taking Celexa. But also, I have noticed since I have modified what I eat and how often, I have not had an episode. I try to eat small amounts of food every 2 to 3 hours and NOT high carbs, either....lol. You should try and stick with proteins or at least complex carbs (which still turn into sugar anyway), veggies. I know it is easier said than done! I am not always good, but I end up suffering for it when I eat junk food. My stomach cannot handle it anymore.
