I am so frustrated with myself....I have practiced going places alone for years and have never been able to stop the fear of fear when I am alone....how does one surrender to the feelings?

I know exactly how you feel. I am so uncomfortable in my home by myself in the mornings, that I have to leave until a least 2;00pm, then I seem to be a little better. what I've tried to do is coming home maybe 15 minutes earlier so I can start feeling better about being alone in my home. Sometimes its helps, other times its doesn't, but its a start. maybe you could start in 5 or 10 intervals. Hope I have helped a little. Suzzie

I have the same problem and for me it's not just being alone, but feeling that I am unsafe when I am alone. For me the biggest help has been realizing that I am my own safe person. That just because I am with someone or at a certain place means I am safe. It takes a lot of practice. For me, I like to distract myself by reading motivational books. This helps to give me the confidence I need helps to keep my mind off of things. One thing that has helped a lot is forcing myself to go through my panic attacks by myself (which didn't happen over night!!). This way it really reinforces to me that I am my own safe person. Right now I like to deal with my panics more then talking to someone about them now. Before I needed to be glued to someone's side to get through them. I hope this helps. Just remember you really are your own safe person and you can take care of your self, so there is no reason to fear being alone. Good luck!!!

I don't know if this will be helpful. I will offer it because many years ago I began the practice of meditation and I discovered I cannot be anywhere but in the present moment when I meditate. It is a peaceful way of learning to really be comfortable with your aloneness. This site is helpful:
