I have been through the program at least 3 times, and I have seen some improvements, but I am not recovered. I still have a lot of anxiety and depression at times. I do excercise and take supplements but I find it soo hard to get rid of the negative thoughts. I am just wondering how many people have really fully recover from anxiety with this program. Has anyone else tried anything else? Can anyone recommend any books or self help procedures besides this one? Thanks.

I am on week 14. I have seen some improvements like you, but I do not feel recovered. I had my old ways for years and years, so it will take some time to get the positive thoughts. Hang in there. I will go through the program again (a little more quickly) once I finish at lesson 15.

Hi blue skies!

I used a mutli prong approach. This program, a CBT therapist that also used EMDR (http://www.emdr.com/briefdes.htm) as well as used Zoloft and klonopin to get through the toughest of moments. When I started to feel sure of myself, I started to wean off Zoloft, then later Klonopin. I also used many relaxation and positive thinking CD's when I slept, I cut out caffeine and sugar (sure I treat myself here and there), exercise, enough sleep.

I always thought I was not good enough, i was told that by my father all the time. i was told how bad I was, how I did not do something well, how poorly I do things, I dumb I was, etc, etc. This was a mental mind game for him to keep me under his control. He was a control freak!

I stopped beating myself up mentally and I slowly started to see that YES I AM GOOD ENOUGH. I read Luncinda's books (even bought them for my family members!) I had a huge issue of poor self esteem and poor self confidence, so I read Self Esteem by McKay and Fanning, and I also read Change your Mind, Change your Life and Teach Only Love, and Love Is Letting Go of Fear by Gerald G. Jampolsky.

I personally feel that I needed all that from different angles to help. THe program is great, but I noticed for me personally I had some scars that the program just did not reach, so there is where my therapist helped me. I was in therapy all of 10-11 months. That was several years back. I have been off Zoloft since Feb 2007 and Klonopin June 2007. It is possible. Getting this program I can say has saved me from that dark place. My issues started about 11-12 years back. I had talk therapy, tried other meds, etc but NOTHING worked like this program and all the other things I did. Try a variety of things because you may see that using several approaches just may work. Smiler

Schnauzermom, I'm glad to hear you say this. I've had therapy, meds, hospitalization, this program and still couldn't overcome the same anxieties I've had since a child.
I found out about EMDR on this forum and by the grace of God found a therapist nearby who has been an affiliate of this program and is also a Christian, which is very important to me.
I've been going weekly for about two months and it has made more difference than anything else in helping me, especially in my current situation. People comment on how good I look lately.
I know I will be going for a long time.
I am re-living a lot of bad experiences in my mind however that I've tried to repress but it's worth it to have confidence that something is working.
