I just starting session two. I am consumed with anxiety all day. I can't sleep at wink at night. I am so anxious. I am journaling and I feel like it's helping but I just can't sleep. I really used to love my sleep and now I am terrified to fall asleep but I think I will have a panic attack and sure enough when I lay down I wake up having a panic attack that lasts and lasts all night. Help!

Raquel...I can relate!!! It's been my experience that stress is causing you not be able to relax/sleep. I too feel like I have to be going 100 miles an hour. It's an uneasy restless feeling that my mind is always in overdrive. I've started drinking chamomille tea at night and it really seems to soothe and calm me a bit. I have good nights and then not so good nights. Last night was not so good. I kept waking up every hour or two. Try to put the 6 steps into action as best you can. Either that or get up and distract yourself with something....reading, driving, listening to soft music or the relaxation cd. You're not alone in this...if you need to PM me please do.

Raquel,
About an hour before I go into my bedroom I take a hot bath. After the bath I drink a cup of hot milk while reading.
I do relaxation tapes. I especially like the muscle relaxation. Another thing I do is picture and name flowers in my head.
I have been doing this type of routine for about 3 years especially during stressful times which is when my anxiety gets high which does cause some sleepless nights.
It really helps for me. It's a before sleep routine that sort of primes my mind and body for sleep.
Another big thing that helps to sleep at night is to get exercise during the day.
Hang in there!
