When I click on the Online Chat, the little blue man spins once like it is loading then the dialogue bubble with the lightbulb (like the icon next to the chat link) shows up in the upper left corner and that's all that comes up.

I tried deleting cookies, resetting internet options, etc.

I have Java, Adobe Flash, RealPlayer, and Shockwave all installed.

I am running Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista.

What now?

Thank you.

I am getting same thing as Kath-In upper left corner I get what look like a square paint board with only three designs in the square with I think 2 blue colors and 1 red. Just don;t know if it;s my computer or on your end, but now it is safe for me to see it may be on your end since someone else is having same problem as me.-Wolverine

Hello,

1. What type of internet service to either of you have? Dialup or Broadband?

2. Has your computer automatically downloaded a Windows Update recently?

Kath, we've notified the company responsible for maintaining the chatroom software about this problem and it is on their end not yours. We are awaiting their response at this time. Do nothing with your system at this time.

Dear Admin-It's Tues. and still cannot see chat. I do not know for sure what I have, but it is up to date whichever is the more up to date one. I am with comcast if that helps you. Also my brother helped update the computer because we are not computer experts here. My kids have been on computer to play checkers and pinball I don't know if they did something. Hope you can help. Wovlerine, it is not in your system, it's a code problem which occurred in the Feb 24 2009 update on the chatroom. We are still waiting for the vendor to contact us on what their time line is for fixing it.

Hello..

In order to successfully use chat, the following conditions need to be met:

1) The user's browser must be able to accept/store persistent cookies.
2) The user's browser should have the latest version of Flash installed. Not just Flash, but the latest version.
3) The user's browser should have the latest Javascript. Again, not just Javascript, but the latest version.
4) The user's internet connection should have access to port 8080.
5) The user's internet connection should not have a high degree of latency. (Such as the latency that comes with a satellite connection).

In many cases, the user may think that these conditions are met, but be mistaken. The port issue is often missed. If the user is trying to connect from work, it's possible that their IT department has closed port 8080. A home firewall may do the same thing.

If the user is positive that the above conditions are met, we have the following troubleshooting steps that may help:

1) Go to http://bbs.stresscenter.com/eve/cookies
2) Choose option 2 & say yes to the prompts
3) Clear your Browser Cache
4) Close then Re Open the Browser
5) Re-Log into the site and try to log into chat
6) If the above do not help, Re-Install the Flash client for the browser. This will ensure the latest version is running.
7) If that doesn't work, try bypassing any firewalls that are set up on the computer.

If it still doesn't work, contact us again with the following information:

1) The user's operating system and precise browser version.
2) The complete security settings for the browser, including cookie acceptance policy
3) The exact details of their internet connection, wireless, dial-up, cable, satellite, etc. and whether or not they're accessing the site through a firewall or proxy server

All of this information will help us troubleshoot.

I still cannot access chat. I had no problems before the website change. I see the chat box come up and then nothing. I am not computer literate to know where to find all of the information you are asking for. I use the latest version of Java and flash as I use these for work as well, work from my home. I have road runner (cable) and I use IE 7 Windows Vista. I do have firewalls with my internet security program but have always used these with no problems. Any other information that you need and you will have to tell me where to get it, as I have no clue.

Thank you,

Believe

1. Vista Operating System, Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000
But would not work on Firefox, either.
2. Security settings are on Medium-high, but the Stress Center website is on all allow/trust lists.
(Cookies are enabled)
3. DLS internet. Accessing through a firewall but, again, the Stress Center website is on the trust list of the firewall.

Flash player and Java are up-to-date. Chat still is not working.

hope this helps thanks again kath

1. Microsoft Windows Xp,Internet Explorer. 2. Security setting is on medium and from what I can tell I have not firewall active(which does not make sense to me) 3. It says from what I can tell a 1394 connection if that means anything and a proxy server and I believe its cable becuz my phone and cable tv and internet is with comcast cable company. I hope this helps. Also I had computer problems before you changed your website look-but before that we had everything checked and updated and I was able to get on the chatline after your new website look so I do not know what could have changed.-Wolverine

I have the latest flash player, java and Internet Explorer 7 and cannot get in chat either. I hope we can all get back in soon. I miss everybody. I couldn't get in after the new improvements were made.

Give me courage, Lord, to sail, my boat out from the shore. I'd rather feel the ocean's gale and hear the tempest roar, than to anchor safely in some bay, because fear conquered me. Let craft less daring, inland stay. Be mine the pathless sea.

A gentleman from the vendor who owns the chatroom software ran 2 tests yesterday on a machine of theirs. Here is his results:
----------------------------
I was able to get in with the following setup:

1. Vista Operating System, Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000

2. Security settings Medium-high. (Cookies enabled) No trusted sites listed.

3. Connecting at LAN speed. (Edit: LAN speed = DSL and/or Cable (Broadband)

4. Javascript 1.6/Flash 10.0.12.36

There are a few possible explainations that I can see.

1) This VISTA machine is currently running Flash 10.0.12.36, while the latest version is 10.0.22.87. I'm installing the newer update to see if it causes an issue. In almost all cases, an outdated version is the problem, not an up-to-date one. Still, it's worth investigating.

2) The user is timing out, whereas I am not because I have a faster connection.

3) The user's firewall is blocking something mine isn't.

Once I try this with the updated Flash, I'll let you know.

As suspected, I was able to connect even after installing 10.0.22.87.

Can your user try connecting from another computer at a different location? Not as a solution, but just as an investigative measure?

-----------------------

Will keep everyone updated as much as possible but make sure you have the exact same setup as the gentleman above has. He was in chat several times using the combo above.
