Well now, first of all Admin, this is not directed at you so please don't take offense. I have been a member for many years and never had problems with chat or any other area of the site until this new latest website. I do have Vista. Everything is up to date on my end. What I have concluded by the last post, that I am sure you were directed to give, is that for those of us that are still having issues, that is just too bad, huh? I find that offensive as I have spent a ton of cash with the MWC and love their program and feel that chat and the site is part of the privilege I am entitled to since I purchased the program (twice), the Coaching videos, many other resources that were offered when the hard copy of the Less Stress Press was mailed (I subscribed) and not to mention the expensive coach I paid for.
I used Vista before this new website. I use Java on other programs, including my work program and as stated above have checked everything I have been asked to do and all is okay on my end. This is the ONLY site I have problems with. But as you stated from higher ups I am sure, it's not their issue, so be it. Am I happy about it?? You bet not but I will not let it ruin my day. I will move on and get my support and give my support elsewhere. Thanks for all you tried to accomplish for those of us that are having issues Admin. And good luck to all of those that are going through the program and can utilize chat. It is a great help, but remember it is not the program. Don't let chat become a crutch, do the work of the program and use chat in conjunction with the program. The program, not chat is key to your recovery. There are many people or were when I was able to access it, that can offer much support. Beth/Believe |

Dear Beth,
I am sorry that you are having trouble getting into chat. Every person is important to us. I am told at this point everything has been done that can be. I will forward your post to the people in charge of the website. Again, I am sorry that you are having problems getting in. Carolyn |

Dear frustrated chat users...the following are some suggestions and feedback from a friend of mine who is a technical consultant to a large business. I personally am lucky to be able to turn the computer on and send an email...so I think his suggestion of calling in an expert would be a good one. It looks like everything we or Groupee can do has been done.
see below... It appears that the users need a good tech support person to get their computers up to speed. Cable modem with the current software is essential to almost all communications these days along with Malware protection (AntiVirus & Spyware) A reinstall of an operating system (on the Vista downgrade to XP is in order) Dial-Up – it’s not going to work with flash and chat room requirements. There are several places to configure your internet browser…starting off with reducing security to minimal and then increasing it until no connection possible seems like an approach that I would take. After all the stuff above had been gone through. I would check with Best Buy’s Geek Squad to see how much a home visit would cost along with a good malware scrubbing and upgrading all software. This stuff takes time (all of mine) and who has that kind of free time to throw into computer support? Few do, fewer still have the desire and determination needed to step through the hurdles that are placed on the path to internet communications. It’s much like trying to find the one item in a fully laden kitchen that would make your next culinary dish exquisite. There’s my insight….what good it will do….I feel their pain! |

Carolyn,
Thank you for taking the time to investigate and respond. Unfortunately, I have completed all tasks that you were advised to do. I have the most up to date security on my system, malware, spyware, antivirus, cable modem is checked bi-weekly, updates and scans are completed twice a day. All of this has to be done on my end because I work from home and my job requires this to be done. The only thing I have not done and cannot do is change to XP. I would love to go back to XP but cannot afford to purchase the downgrade and Vista is working fine with my work so I don't wish to "rock the boat" with that. I also use Java and Adobe with work and have no issues. I will just keep checking back from time to time to see if things have changed and if I am able to log in. I haven't gone to chat on a regular basis in quite some time. I just enjoyed popping in occassionally and sometimes it's nice to get the support there from those that understand what we are going through. My panic attacks have come back, but I know that this too shall pass. I use my tools from the program to help me cope. It just helps to talk to others that understand as family members do not, even though it's been 15 years. I understand the frustration of those that are not able to get to chat. I do know that chat is not the program and stressed that when I was able to access it, but I also know it helps at times as well. I'll keep checking back. Thank you again. Beth/Believe |

Dear Chat Friends,
i have a Hewlett Packard PC with Vista and i want to share my latest experience I called the tech guys at HP and told them what had happened, and they told me , don't downgrade your Vista to Windows HP, because this will blank out your system and void your warranty... next they said to back up all my pictures and music, ect..and that they would send me System Recovery disks. So when i received the disks , i called them back to walk me thru the process. It was easy , but time consuming...anyway when i finished and installed all the updates and such, i tried to get into chat and i got in with no problem. It's been working ever since... so i am thinking that maybe the disks they sent me had some fixes on them for the Vista operating system. so anyway, maybe you all could try this, even if you don't have a Hewlett Packard ... i really hope this helps |

Thank you Kath! I am going to try this as well. The system recovery disks came with my Dell and I'm going to try those. If they don't work I will contact Dell again. You have been very helpful. Hope you are well.

Hi Believe- long time no see! Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I log into the site and have no troubles with the Forums. But trying to get into chat it just tells me "Unable to establish connection". I'm at a loss because this seemed to just happen overnight and I know all my stuff is up to date on my end (??). I'll just hang back and see what happens myself.

I'm also having trouble getting into chat. Granted, I haven't been there in months, but I tried last night and all I get is a box with a small square in the upper left corner. I have the latest Java (as far as I know), and I don't have issues anywhere else. I'll keep trying!

I have Windows XP and I can get into chat....kind of. Everything works except I can not post anything on chat. I type in a message, hit my enter key, my message disappears but it never gets posted to the chat room. I can see all other members in chat and read their responses to each other but I can not participate. It's odd. This problem did not occur before the new website. All my files are up to date. This is the only chat room I participate in that I am having issues with. All others work fine on my computer.

The best thing I can say at this point is to do what Kath did, use your restore CD for your specific computer, make sure every program is up to date with the very latest version of that particular program or software and review all the steps mentioned in this thread that we got back from Groupee (chatroom vendor):
http://bbs.stresscenter.com/ev...173104874/m/96210534 I'm running Vista on this laptop, IE 7.0, Flash, Java, Direct X (which I use for other online work) with a DSL connection which runs around 3.0 mb down & 1.5 mb up (moderatly fast internet connection in todays market) and can connect to chat anytime. The white window does hang up for about 7 seconds before the connect "takes" but it's working. All connections to the chatroom are still in normal operation so please recheck everything on your computers or have a tech look at it. |

I went to the Adobe Flash site and downloaded the latest version. That took care of my problem! Thanks!

It's good to see that so many of you are finding the answers...I have received one more email from my techy friend...you have probably applied his suggestions already but just in case here they are:
"No computers are exactly alike. We may have the same manufacturer and model number and style but once you log into yours and I log into mine the differences begin. I guess I would challenge people further to try to access the chat room from another computer - a friend's computer, or their technician's - possibly from one at the local library. If they can access the chat room or any other web resource we offer from other computers and not their own... the issue must reside on that person's computer and that they should obtain profession help to resolve the issue as it is physically beyond our capabilities... The specifications that are required by our website seems to be very much like many others. And we are able to access the web chat as are others with a plethora of different computers, operating systems and brands. ... (I)suggest that they have their technician try to access their account with their credentials from a different computer." |

Update: I can now get into chat. What happened before was that I had to download Mozilla Firefox on my system to access chat. However, recently I had updated my Windows Vista and can no longer access chat through Firefox but can do it through Windows Explorer. Is that confusing or what?! I'm just glad this update seemed to make things work... for now anyway.

I keep trying every day to get on chat but cant. I have an HP computer with Windows XP, I have DSL. Windows is up to date, Java is up to date, I have Adobie Flash player 10, I have Adobie Shockwave player 11, what else do I need. I also have a good anti virus on here. Before the new format I was able to get on chat once but only tried once. Now with the new format I try to get on everyday but cant. All I get is the little guy in the middle of the screen that twirls & turns blue. Then there is what looks like a light bulb (not sure what they call it) in the upper left corner, if I click on it, it jumps to the left & that’s all that happens.
