Well, I'm on Session 4 for now and I've been able to control my anxiety when I'm out and about, but when it comes to staying home (especially alone), I start feeling ansy and restless. I can't relax. I feel like I have to go out and do something and I hate it because I want to be at home and just enjoy it. Help!

Hello. I know that ansy feeling is uncomfortable. You feel like you constantly need to be doing something. It's like nervous energy. I used to feel that way alot in the past before I went thorugh the program.

In the evenings I try to have a little rountine. Trying to take sometime for myself to relax and unwind. Listening to The relaxation tape or some type of relaxing music in the background.

I also try and work on the breathing exercises, a few mintues to meditate or at least close your eyes to relax. I then might sit down and read or work on my lessons in the work book. I keep the TV on low while trying to read. I don't watch any scary stuff or the news before bed because that definitely increase my nervousness.

I find this helps me to chill out in the evning. I wish you much sucess in your recovery. Take care and God Bless

I feel the exact same way. I quit my job (actually retired)and I can't stand being at home all alone, but I don't want to get out and go anywhere (social phobia). I live in a very small town where there is no where to go, and I don't have the money if I wanted to buy something.I feel I need to make myself get out of the house and do volunteer work. They say people feel much better if they get their mind off themself and help others.
