I have quit caffeine, and that wasn't too tough. I have eliminated most of my sugar intake, like pop and cereals. I feel better but now i am noticing how much niccotine is affecting me. I chew copenhagen, about a can every 3 to 4 days. I have tried to quit in the past but it was short lived. My mind is overwhelmed with the idea that i have to quit it but i think i will go crazy. any ideas on how to quit successfully?

Hi L Lydick. Go on the web-site below. It's an excellent site for quitting smoking, and/or chewing tobacco. I'll be quitting in Jan, and I'll be attending a group called TARP. Tobacco Addiction Recovery Program. I'll also be a regular on the site below. It's a good site. I'll also be using the patch as well, because I know I will not be able to quit "cold turkey", but everyone is different. The site is:
http://quitsmoking.about.com/ PS Congrats on quitting caffeine, and sugar etc..... One addiction , and one step at a time. The above web-site has a great bunch of people just like this site, and they are very supportive of each other. Take care! 'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. Hello everyone,
I'm very thankful that this topic area was posted. I'm 21 years old and I have been smoking about a pack of cigarettes a day since I was 16 years old. I have most certainly noticed how heavy of an effect the toxins have on me both physically and mentally. I'm not too sure why I'm still smoking seeing as I'm now aware of the way in which it contribues to my anxiety and depression. Another chemical substance I have been struggling with over the past few years is alcohol. I can certainly relate to the idea that alcohol can be used as a crutch and a way to numb the pain inherent to anxiety and depression. Both of these substances are things I must rid my body of. I have got myself completly off caffeine and I have been working daily at trying to make healthier dietary decisions. I must; however, be easy on myself seeing as I'm currently in the middle of Christmas holidays and awaiting the transition into my second semester of school. I have made January 1st my quitting day for smoking and also the day in which I will begin to taper off alcohol. I wish you all God's blessing as you celebrate Christmass and the new years. Kind regards, Benjamin Olthof |

even here in Canada. I'll check it out though. Thanks for the good luck wish. It's nice talking with you again! Take care. Good luck in your quit as well. We can do this! Hi Benjamin I want to wish you the best wishes in your quit of nicotine and alcohol. It's not easy, but you will do it. One step at a time. I'm glad you are at a place in your soul where you can see that you have addiction issues, and that is half the battle. Keep up with this course too, and it will help you keep strong. Good luck with your plans. If you and/or Stagarlee ever need to talk about these issues, email me. You too L.Lydick. Hugs 'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.' |
