Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since i've been on the forum, for the most part I have been doing really well. I was in a car accident today, not a terrible one but it shook me up pretty good, It was enough that two of the three cars involved had to be towed away, (mine included) and my 4 year old daughter and myself had to go to the ER to be checked out. We are fine, just some muscle soreness and some bruises, I have a bruise in the shape of the seat belt across my chest. Anyway all this being said im affraid the accident is going to trigger some new anxiety or depression for me. I am curently on lesson 9, which I feel is perfect for this trial because I am dealing with some guilt about the accident, like I should have been paying more attention, or not driving as fast. But the more and more I look at it it was an honest mistake and my dad keeps saying accidents happen, even to good drivers! so I dont know any thoughts for me on this? thanks guys! I have already gone through the whole list of what if's in my head about this incident. |

chellebelle,
I am so sorry to hear that you were in an accident, but on the flipside, you and your daughter are OK! That is great news. I am also very happy that you have been feeling really well doing the program. The accident is over...it happened and no matter how much you re-think and what if in your mind, it will not change what already occured. You mentioned that you thought you should have been paying attention more or not driving as fast, right? Well, take those should haves and implement them in your driving routine. Drive the speed limit or a little below, try not to take your attention off the road (no phone, eating, fumbling in pursue, glovebox while driving). This way you learn from the experience and do not feel guilty. Your father is right, accidents do happen even to good drivers. Sometimes we just end up being in a place at a time that we are in a situation that really cannot be controlled. We also cannot predicte the future. Stuff happens. Do not beat yourself up over this...it happened. Be so very thankful that you and your little girl walked away. Who cares about the car, that CAN be replaced! Take care and go easy on yourself. Chelle,
IM so glad your both ok! You made it through this, IM hoping you will see the positive side of the situation. The worst happened and you made it through just fine. This is proof that everything that happens to us will not kill us. Make sure and go back over your what if thinking program. Your going to be fine sweetheart! Look on the bright side you will get a new car right? I hope so. Now get back out there and . and get back on that horse, lol.. Cathy |
