Today I was really worried about a future event that is years in advance. I worried about the fact that I am having some anxiety now and I am working only part-time because I have small children at home. Anyhow I was really worried about how I would ever be able to work full-time feeling the way that I do. I was mulling these worries in my head for at least an hour or more feeling really scared and not enjoying the moment. Then I realized--maybe I can solve some of these worries like Lucinda tells us to do when we have a worry. Well I tried it and boy do I feel so much better. I wrote out my worry and figured out a solution to make it work. I used a lot of positive talking and I feel like there is a weight that has been lifted off my shoulders. I recommend that you try it and see how it feels.

When ever you are worried you can also do another exercise that may end your worry completely. It's called Designated Worry Time. You pick the same time for each day for 21 days, and you sit and worry on paper for about twenty minutes. Worry, worry, worry. Don't try to fix anything during this time. Just give yourself permission to worry. After the twenty minutes are up, close your tablet. Pat yourself on the back for doing such a great job of worrying, and go about your day. Now, in between worry times when the worry thought arises, tell yourself, gently: It is OK to have this concern and it can wait until my designated worry time. That's all you tell yourself. Repeat as often as necessary.
