Hi All - I haven't checked in for quite a while. My husband had a sudden heart attack on the 9th. So I've spent the last week at the hospital with him. He's home now and doing well - waiting for further testing and an angioplasty operation. I had just started week 5 - ironic because I ate horrible hospital food all that week and didn't get any exercise. I'm finding it really hard to get back on track - my life is upside down right now. I'm self concious doing the program in front of my husband (I couldn't do it in front of anyone else either). I'm trying not to lose the progress that I've made - but I feel it slipping away quickly. We aren't sure when the operation will take place - could be a month from now. He's out of work - the sick pay is a fraction of what he usually gets - we've had to dip into the savings account to pay for medication and bills already. I'm freaking out thinking about the future. I don't feel ready to go back to work - but I may not have a choice. I'm frazzled.

Go back to basics and what led you here. Trust in GOD and your community here to support you, and remember as important as it is for you to take care of your husband, you need to take care of yourself as well.

Come back daily for support.

A smile is just a friend away!!

hey sorry to hear about your husband i had a similar situation about 2 years where my husband got hurt at work and stayed out for two years we also struggled and it was horrible but in bad times you have to look at the good things- your husband is ok and will be fine and without your progress with the program you probably would have been falling apart just take one day at a time and trust in God he will help you take care and good luck

I'm very sorry to hear about your husband. Be kind and compassionate to yourself at this time. You are experiencing tremendous stress with all that's going on in your life right now. It's normal for our old coping mechanism to kick in when your stress level is high. Just be patient with yourself.

Just stick with the "basics"-breathing, +self talk and avoiding sugar/caffeine. It's difficult to avoid the hospital foods when you were at the hospital. Now that your home if you can be aware of healthier choices.

I will say a prayer for you and your husband. Keep us posted. Take care and God Bless.
